The Laboratory of Cell Biology at the National Cancer Institute (NIH) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the lab of Dr. Michael M. Gottesman. This role focuses on overcoming the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to improve drug delivery for brain cancer treatment, utilizing innovative zebrafish models and cutting-edge techniques.
Position Overview
- Research Focus: Develop and apply zebrafish-based models to study BBB permeability and enhance drug delivery to the brain.
- Techniques Used:
- Transgenic bioluminescent BBB integrity assays
- In vivo confocal imaging, CRISPR knockouts, and xenograft models
- Toxicity screening and cell-based validation methods
- Lab Expertise: Pioneering work in multidrug resistance transporters and BBB biology ([Robey et al., Nature Reviews Cancer, 2018](insert link)).
Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or related fields.
- Required Skills:
- Experience with zebrafish models (colony management, microinjections preferred).
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and data analysis.
- Strong written/verbal communication and mentoring abilities.
- Preferred: Collaborative mindset, prior work in BBB/drug delivery research.

- Appointment Type: Training position (Initial stipend: $67,200/year).
